Arnab Ghosh, MD, PhD
Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist & Cellular Therapist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a medical oncologist who specializes in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cell therapies for lymphomas. I am also a physician-scientist whose research focuses on understanding the biology of antitumor immunity (immune responses that support tumor control, increasing the efficacy of these therapies).

Previously, our studies have shown that chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells from a donor can be used safely and without an increased risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). GVHD is a complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant using donor cells. It happens when donor immune cells identify the host’s (the person getting the transplant) tissue as foreign and begin to attack it.
My recent research led to discovery of a novel mechanism by which p53, a protein often lost in cancers, can reprogram the microenvironment to help the immune system recognize it. This led to the development of a successful clinical trial of the p53-stablizing drug eprenetapopt with the PD-1-blocker pembrolizumab. The combination was tested in patients with solid tumors where treatment with one immune checkpoint blockade drug had failed.
My current research program focuses on understanding early immunological and molecular events after transplantation and other cell therapies. Our studies can help answer how can prevent or facilitate relapse of malignancies after these therapies.
As a medical oncologist and physician-scientist, my patient care philosophy is rooted in the use of scientific evidence. I use scientific evidence and an awareness of patients’ individual values and wishes to guide the clinical recommendations I make. This approach helps us to work in partnership, getting patients personalized, evidence-based care.
