I am a medical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with sarcomas or bone and soft tissue malignancies. Sarcoma is a rare disease that lacks accessible information, which can cause additional stress for the patient at the time of diagnosis. When I meet patients, one of my first objectives is to help to educate them about their sarcoma.

Given each patient and cancer is unique, I strive to work with my patients to understand their expectations and concerns and to develop tailored treatment plans. It is important to me that my patients understand their disease and what to expect from treatment because these are the essential elements needed to regain autonomy and normalcy after a cancer diagnosis.

I practice oncology as part of a multidisciplinary team with other expert medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, nurses, and patient support advocates. Our mission is to provide the best possible care for each individual patient, including access to state-of-the-art clinical trials.

In addition to clinical care, I perform laboratory-based research focused on understanding how mutations that affect the epigenome, which controls how genetic information is used in the cell, promote the development of sarcomas and other cancers. The objective of this work is to develop new therapies based on an improved understanding of the biology of cancer. I believe that the path to innovative new treatments for patients with sarcoma begins in the laboratory.

It is important to me that my patients understand their disease and what to expect from treatment because these are the essential elements needed to regain autonomy and normalcy after a cancer diagnosis.
