Caroline Novak, MD

About Me

I am a hospitalist who provides care exclusively to people who have been hospitalized at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Memorial Hospital, in Manhattan. Along the course of a cancer journey, patients may encounter complications associated with therapy or the disease itself. They may also have underlying medical problems that are exacerbated by cancer and it’s treatments. If this results in a medical condition severe enough to warrant hospitalization, I, along with my colleagues in the Hospital Medicine Service, formulate and execute a care plan to resolve the issue and to determine next steps for the patient. We also provide ongoing care at night to many of the patients admitted to Memorial Hospital.

In addition to efficiently addressing the issues leading to hospitalization, I am responsible for ensuring the highest level of comfort possible for each patient. I know that being admitted to the hospital can be overwhelming, and it’s my personal goal to make sure each patient I see has a good understanding of their medical condition and feels comfortable with the plan going forward. Often I communicate directly with my patients’ personal oncologists to coordinate care.

Outside of my direct work with patients, I act as a supervisor for our excellent overnight medical residents.

Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
