About Me

I am a gastroenterologist who sees patients at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. I have extensive experience in performing colonoscopies, endoscopies, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomies (PEG), and video capsule endoscopies.
As a member of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Service, I provide clinical nutrition support for people with cancer, which includes assessing nutrition needs, developing therapeutic plans, and monitoring patients who are receiving specialized nutrition support.

Gastroenterology is a field that combines both inpatient procedures and outpatient medicine, which is why I was drawn to my career path. I am able to build long-term relationships with my patients because I am often with them throughout their entire experience. It is also a field that requires teamwork; I collaborate very closely with my patients’ primary medical oncologists and other care-team members to ensure we are combining our expertise and providing the best possible care.
My research focus lies in the early detection and prevention of colon cancer with colonoscopies. I am also interested in looking at why some groups of people have higher rates of colon cancer screening than others. If this disease is found early, we can usually cure it, so it’s important that everyone who falls under the screening guidelines gets a colonoscopy when needed.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. I have gone on medical missions to Madagascar and the Dominican Republic, and hope to go on more in the future.
A gastroenterologist (GAS-troh-EN-teh-RAH-loh-jist) is a doctor with special training in the gastrointestinal (GI) system. This includes the esophagus, intestines, stomach, bile ducts, gallbladder, liver, and pancreas.
