I am a medical oncologist who cares for people with breast cancer. My personal experience with cancer inspired me to become an oncologist. I am grateful for the opportunity to now be inspired and motivated by my patients and their own experiences.
I recognize that from the moment a person is told they have cancer, their life will never be the same. A critical part of my job is to ensure that my patients and their caregivers feel supported and confident, from the time of diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

Much of breast cancer treatment planning involves shared decision-making, which is not possible without an informed mind, open ears, and compassionate care. I am committed to working with my colleagues to advocate for my patients every step of the way.
One challenge that arises with a cancer diagnosis is the pressure and anxiety of having to travel to and from the place where you will receive the best care. I tell my patients that feeling comfortable with not only their doctor but their surroundings is paramount. As an oncologist practicing in the regional network of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), I care for many patients close to their homes, their workplaces, and their loved ones. In that way, we are able to provide MSK’s expertise and resources to more patients and their families in their own communities.
I am involved in initiatives that provide important patient support at MSK Nassau, including the MSK Healthy Living Program and the Young Women With Breast Cancer Program. I have always appreciated the National Cancer Institute’s definition of a cancer survivor, which says that survivorship spans “from the time of diagnosis, through the balance of life.” It is an honor to be alongside my patients through this balance.
My research interests are in breast cancer survivorship, quality-of-life issues, and palliative care. I have also completed a one-year course in bioethics through MSK’s Bioethics Ambassador Program.
A critical part of my job is to ensure that my patients and their caregivers feel supported and confident, from the time of diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
