I am an attending clinical chemist in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, which is responsible for all clinically relevant measurements made on blood, urine, and bodily fluids in the management of patients here at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a laboratory director, I am responsible for the management and oversight of the clinical chemistry laboratories. I am also available to consult with our clinicians in selecting appropriate tests and interpreting the results of these tests.
My research interests are focused on novel biomarkers of disease. We are fortunate at Memorial Sloan Kettering to have a section of our service dedicated to the development and validation of new diagnostic assays. In addition to our development activities, we conduct clinical research to evaluate the diagnostic utility of these tests. This is done in collaboration with our clinical and basic science colleagues here at the Center with the ultimate goal of bringing new tests from the research bench into routine clinical use.
