Marjorie G. Zauderer, MD

About Me

I am a board-certified medical oncologist who specializes in caring for people with thoracic cancers and I am Co-Director of MSK’s Mesothelioma Program. I provide personalized care to my patients throughout their treatment. Care plans are based not only on the type of cancer and its genetics but also on the priorities of each and every patient and family. I work closely with my colleagues from other disciplines such as thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonology, pathology, radiology, and interventional radiology to determine the optimal plan and whether there is an appropriate clinical trial.

I also lead a research team working to develop new therapies for mesothelioma and lung cancer. I am particularly interested in inherited predispositions to lung cancer and mesothelioma. I work on developing treatments for specific molecular changes, such as BAP1 and NF2 loss, as well as novel immunotherapies and biomarkers that may predict response to these new treatments.

I have previously served on the scientific advisory board for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and am now on its board of directors. I am a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program’s thoracic malignancy steering committee mesothelioma working group and a peer reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs sponsored by the Department of Defense. I am also active within the American Society of Clinical Oncology. At MSK, I also serve as the Thoracic Disease Management Team lead for the MSK Cancer Alliance and am a core physician for the MSK-IBM Watson decision-support tool for oncology.

Clinical Trials

Research is integral to our mission at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and clinical trials help us discover better forms of patient care and treatment. For you, this could mean access to a new therapy or therapy combination. Click to see a list of the trials I’m currently leading.

Insurance

Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
