I am a medical oncologist who cares for people with breast cancer. Patients are often overwhelmed by a deluge of treatment decisions and care options. I view myself as a coach who provides advice at every decision point. My goal is to help the people I care for feel informed, enlightened, and empowered.

My parents were both doctors who specialized in oncology, so I was introduced to the complexities of cancer at an early age. Like many people, my family was also touched by the disease. My scientific research and patient care experiences led me to pursue a focus on breast cancer.

Many people feel hopeful when they hear about the many new therapies approved each year, thanks to ongoing clinical and scientific research. I am motivated by the prospect of bending the arc of cancer treatment through cutting edge science and taking care of people who participate in clinical trials at MSK.

In the lab, I study a gene called PIK3CA, the most frequently damaged or mutated oncogene in all of human cancer. My research explores therapies that target and block these genetic mutations, which fuel approximately 40 percent of breast cancers. These treatments, called PI3K inhibitors, are currently being evaluated in a number of clinical trials.

Outside of work, I enjoy singing in Downtown Voices, a semiprofessional choir through Trinity Wall Street. I am also active in breast cancer advocacy as a member of the Susan G. Komen Young Professionals Committee.
