Tomas Lyons, MB BCh BAO

About Me

I am a medical oncologist who specializes in caring for people with breast cancer. I work within a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, nurses, and other health professionals to provide my patients with the best possible treatments for their cancer. I am committed to delivering the most up-to-date, evidence-based cancer care in a compassionate, caring, and friendly environment for my patients and their families. I currently see patients at the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center in Manhattan, as well as at MSK Westchester.

I specialize in treating all subtypes of breast cancer and am actively involved in the many breast cancer clinical trials going on at MSK. Our collective goal is to bring the most promising therapies to our patients. My research interests are focused on harnessing the immune system to target breast cancer. This is called immunotherapy

I, like many other health care professionals who care for patients with cancer, have also been impacted by this disease. I have personally witnessed a close family member undertake their own cancer journey. I saw the impact that the diagnosis had on both the patient and their loved ones. This firsthand experience greatly influences my approach to caring for my patients. I strive to provide care that is not only highly effective, but also compassionate. An important part of this care is clearly communicating all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment so that patients and their families feel well-informed at every step of their cancer journey.

Clinical Trials

As home to one of the world’s top cancer research centers, Memorial Sloan Kettering is typically involved in more than 900 clinical trials at a given time. Currently, clinical trials focused on the conditions I treat are enrolling new patients. Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
