As a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of genitourinary cancers, I care for patients with prostate cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer, and kidney cancer. I work alongside urologists and radiation oncologists at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) to identify the most appropriate medical therapy — whether it is hormonal therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or chemotherapy — to treat urologic cancer.
I am particularly interested in issues related to quality of life and symptom management for patients with prostate, bladder (urothelial), testicular (germ cell), and kidney cancer (renal cell). For our patients, knowledge of the disease is more powerful than fear of the disease. In the exam room, I find joy in reviewing images and retracing steps with patients and their families to allow them to see and fully understand the panorama of their disease. Together, we can create a path forward.

MSK stands in distinction from other cancer centers because of our broad portfolio of clinical trials, many of which are available to our patients through our regional care network. The clinical trials that we offer at MSK help us identify the patients who would benefit most from new approaches, such as the earlier use of immunotherapy, the combined use of immunotherapy and chemotherapy, or investigational targeted therapies. We also differ in that we discuss each of the cancer cases we see at MSK with our disease management team. This multidisciplinary group, which includes oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other experts at MSK, collaborates to develop management plans for our patients. Our patients get the best of both worlds: expert opinion and treatment close to home.
I see patients at MSK Monmouth in New Jersey, where I work closely with a multidisciplinary team of urologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, and many other specialists. At MSK Monmouth, patients can rest assured they are receiving the same level of care that MSK is known for in Manhattan.
I also enjoy teaching the next generation of doctors. Although it has been nearly 10 years since I became a physician, I have never forgotten the importance of mentorship for our student doctors. I previously taught at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University, and I am currently an instructor in medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, teaching regularly in New York City.
