For example, we may recommend a treatment based on which subtype of lymphoma you have, since we know that some drugs are more effective on certain lymphomas than others.
With targeted therapies, we’re now able to select drugs that zero in on the process that turns lymphocytes into cancer cells. These medicines generally cause fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy drugs because they are designed to target only tumor cells, leaving healthy cells as is.
