Blood & Marrow Stem Cell Transplantation

Our program in bone and marrow stem cell transplantation is one of the largest and most established nationwide. Since performing the first successful stem cell transplant between a patient and an unrelated donor in the early 1970s, we have remained pioneering and productive in the field, carrying out more than 4,000 autologous and allogeneic transplants and introducing approaches now commonly used around the globe. Advances we have helped to develop include T cell depletion, hyperfractionated irradiation, and methods to prevent graft-versus-host disease.
