Participants will have a comprehensive hematology and medical oncology review course which is required on an annual basis to update fellows in training and practicing medical oncologists on state of the art practice and care standards. Because initial oncology board certification is required for fellows emerging from training programs, and recertification is required every 10 years for practicing oncologists, comprehensive hematology and oncology review courses need to be available on a regular basis. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer is ideally suited to host such an educational effort, given the breadth of clinical expertise at this center as well as the position of our clinicians on the cutting edge of new therapy developments.
After engaging in this activity, participants will return to practice with an understanding of the:
- State of the science in diagnosis, staging, and therapeutic management of solid tumor cancers
- State of the science in diagnosis, staging, and therapeutic management of hematologic cancers
- Recent advances in the treatment of solid tumor and hematologic oncology and their impact on modern clinical practice
This course consists of didactic lectures with question and discussion periods as well as case presentations and interactive slide seminars.
