New Trends in Radiation Oncology

The purpose is to provide a comprehensive review of new trends in Radiation Therapy for treating site specific cancers, treatment side effects and nursing management.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the purpose of radiation as a cancer treatment modality
  2. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Brain and Spine cancers.
  3. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin’s Disease
  4. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Lung cancer
  5. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Prostate cancers
  6. Describe early and late skin reactions from radiation therapy
  7. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management Breast cancer
  8. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of GYN cancer
  9. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Head and Neck Cancer
  10. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Pancreatic cancer
  11. Describe the advancement and new trends in the treatment and management of Bone Metastasis and role of Palliative Radiation

Audience

This course is designed for new and experienced nurses who care for patients receiving radiation therapy.

Credit

6.5 Contact Hours will be awarded to registered nurses who attend the program in its entirety.
