The Skinny on Body Weight and Cancer

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this free educational activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand and explain the types of cancer for which obesity increases risk and mortality

  2. Understand and discuss the limitations of body mass index for risk assessment

Review the biologic mechanism by which obesity promotes cancer and present potential points of intervention.


This course is directed towards physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers and health educators.


Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of  2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
