The Pathology of Neoplastic Diseases


Participants will learn the current classifications and diagnostic criteria for tumors and tumor-like lesions of the selected subspecialty areas, including both common and unusual entities. The appropriate use of ancillary diagnostic techniques will be highlighted. Complete differential diagnoses will be discussed, and a practical, problem-oriented approach to the pathologic evaluation of specimens will be emphasized. Participants will learn about the clinical features of the various tumor entities along with pathologic prognostic factors and predictors of therapeutic responsiveness.

Course Design
This course consists of didactic lectures with question and discussion periods as well as case presentations and interactive slide seminars. The lectures are organized along the lines of the specific subspecialties to be covered this year, with 1.3 days devoted to each of the following areas: Breast Pathology, Gynecology Pathology,Special Pathology, and Hematopathology.

This course is directed toward practicing pathologists, both in academic and private practice situations, as well as residents and fellows in pathology, who wish to broaden their understanding of neoplastic diseases.


Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center designates this conference for a maximum of 27.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Additional 1.5 credits for each of the slide seminars will be given. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit he/she actually spent in the conference. Self assessment module (SAM) questions will be prepared to enable participants to earn up to 20 SAM credits.
