All applicants must complete and submit the online application form by December 1 of the year prior to entry.

In addition, applicants must supply:

  • Copies of your official transcripts (showing proof of degree(s) as applicable) from ALL institutions attended beyond secondary school and that are properly signed and authenticated. International students with degrees from universities that do not use a 4.0 scale should upload a copy of their WES converted transcript onto the index page. Transcripts should be uploaded in the application portal as non-encrypted PDF files. Uploading a transcript with any type of protection or encryption may prevent us from viewing the file and will delay processing of your application. Matriculating students will be required to provide an Official Transcript (sent directly from the institution) prior to entry into the graduate program.
  • Three letters of recommendation from advisors and/or research mentors, to be submitted online by the recommenders
  • Submission of General and Advanced Subject Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores is optional and not required for admission
  • Official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam are required for applicants who do not speak English as their first language, unless they earned their bachelor’s or master’s degrees in the United States or a US territory, in which case TOEFL scores are not required. Exemptions may also be requested from students who received the equivalent of a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a non-US college or university where all instruction is provided in English. To request an exemption please contact the graduate school office at [email protected].

Applicants who, on the basis of their submitted application materials, are being seriously considered for acceptance will be invited for interviews. The requirement for in-person interviews may be waived if geographical constraints are overwhelming, and may be substituted with telephone/video interviews.

The Admissions Committee considers all data available for each applicant before making its decision.
