Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) Fellowship
Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Department of Radiation Oncology offers a one year clinical fellowship open to full trained radiation oncologists who have a strong interest in image-guided radiotherapy. IGRT is an advanced radiographic imaging technique used to verify the position of targets in three dimensions during radiation delivery in order to significantly reduce potential geometric and random errors, resulting in very precise radiation treatment. This allows for the safe delivery of high doses of radiation to tumors while limiting the dose given to surrounding normal tissues.
Fellows develop clinical expertise in all aspects of IGRT by being involved in the assessment, simulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery of patients receiving IGRT. In addition, fellows become knowledgeable with the indications, limitations, and contraindications of IGRT in all sites, as well as with all aspects of treatment simulation, planning, and image-guided treatment delivery.
One Year (July-June)
The prerequisites for this program are successful completion of an accredited radiation oncology residency program as well as the completion of USMLE Steps I, II, and III.
