Overview of the MSK Breast Examination Center of Harlem
The Breast Examination Center of Harlem (BECH) — is an outreach program of Memorial Sloan Kettering. Uninsured women can be screened for breast cancer and cervical cancer at no out-of-pocket cost. Women who meet the eligibility requirements can also receive colorectal cancer screening through the New York State Cancer Screening Program. BECH has an established reputation in the Harlem community. Its professional staff offers for free, high-quality care.
Since its founding in 1979, BECH has screened more than 250,000 women for cancer. BECH’s nurse practitioners also counsel women on the dangers of tobacco smoking and help refer them to smoking cessation programs.
BECH is highly active in the community. It sponsors health fairs, seminars, free screenings and other educational events in New York City.
