Our patients are admitted to Memorial Hospital when they have acute care needs for treatment or symptom management, based on their cancer diagnosis or a related illness. In 2011, more than 24,000 patients were admitted.

Within the hospital, young patients receive care in the Claire Tow Pediatric Pavilion, which includes our inpatient units and our outpatient Pediatric Day Hospital.

In addition, patients of any age undergo complex procedures in one of 21 operating rooms in our state-of-the-art surgical center. Our Surgical Day Hospital serves patients undergoing less complex surgeries.

Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Memorial Hospital also houses many outpatient services, including:

  • Our 13-bed Urgent Care Center on the first floor of the Enid A. Haupt Pavilion, which offers 24-hour outpatient assessment and treatment
  • The Center for Image-Guided Interventions on the second floor of the hospital, a multidisciplinary facility where experts perform a variety of image-guided therapies, including minimally invasive surgery and interventional radiologic and endoscopic procedures
  • The Department of Radiation Oncology’s care facility, where our adult and pediatric patients undergo treatment with external beam therapy or brachytherapy, and benefit from supportive care services
  • The outpatient chemotherapy unit, where ambulatory patients receive chemotherapy or immunotherapy treatments in addition to therapies for symptom management, such as hydration or blood transfusions

Donations of whole blood and platelets are needed every day to maintain an adequate supply for our patients. Our Blood Donor Room is located at 1250 First Avenue, between 67th and 68th Streets. Learn more about donating blood and platelets.

Additional services available in Memorial Hospital include a cafeteria for patients and visitors and a Gift Shop.
