Memorial Sloan Kettering Rockville Centre offers the following services for adults with cancer.
Chemotherapy and Medical Oncology
Our Rockville Centre facility is home to medical oncologists who focus on particular types of cancer. We are experts in using clinical information to plan and manage treatment in ways that are tailored to the specific details of your clinical condition.
If you need chemotherapy, biologic therapies, or other intravenous treatments, our infusion suite offers a calm and relaxed environment for receiving them. Our focus is on making the experience as comfortable as possible. You are welcome to bring friends and loved ones to help pass the time during treatment. Snacks are also available while you are receiving chemotherapy.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is a leader in the use of advanced technologies in radiation therapy. At our Rockville Centre facility, we use sophisticated tools - including two state-of-the-art linear accelerators, advanced imaging and CT simulation, and high-speed computer-based systems - to deliver the correct dose of radiation directly to the tumor with remarkable precision.
If you require external-beam radiation therapy, we use intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) to ensure that the treatments are focused and precise. If you have lung cancer, bone metastases, or brain metastases, we can perform stereotactic radiosurgery, an ultra-high-dose, highly precise form of radiation therapy. This approach can reduce the number of sessions required for radiation treatment, while also limiting the risk of side effects that may affect your quality of life.
We also offer a type of internal radiation therapy called high-dose-rate brachytherapy that delivers radiation in a brief outpatient treatment session directly to the tumor. Brachytherapy is used at Memorial Sloan Kettering Rockville Centre to treat gynecologic cancers.
Safety is a high priority at each step of your treatment. Medical physicists are involved in every radiation procedure to ensure that the correct dose of radiation is delivered precisely where it is needed.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Rockville Centre offers consultation and treatment for patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and other blood cancers. We offer clinical trials and access to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s world-class bone marrow or stem cell transplantation program.
Support During and After Treatment
In addition to excellent clinical cancer care, we provide a variety of support programs to help you cope with the challenges of treatment and living with cancer. Our social worker is available on-site to help you manage the emotional challenges of treatment and assist you with the practical problems that cancer can cause. We offer nutritional counseling to help maintain a proper diet, manage weight, and cope with changes in appetite and taste.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Rockville Centre hosts support groups that provide useful information and offer opportunities to discuss the experience of living with cancer. We also partner with community cancer support groups and provide local cancer educational and survivorship programs.
Because doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center are at the forefront of cancer research, we are able to offer eligible patients at Rockville Centre access to certain innovative therapies that are not yet widely available. These new treatments are investigated through our clinical trials program. Learn more about clinical trials.
