I am a medical oncologist who specializes in caring for people with prostate cancer and other genitourinary cancers.

I make every effort to help my patients balance their quality of life with the potential side effects of treatment. Along with colleagues in surgery, radiation oncology, and other specialties, I aim to offer my patients the individualized care plan that is most appropriate for their specific situation.

In parallel, my research is focused on understanding the biology of prostate cancer in order to develop new therapies. I do this in large part through molecular profiling (including genomic analysis) of prostate cancer to identify pathways that can be targeted with new drugs in clinical trials. I work closely with colleagues in the laboratory across the institution to understand the biological behavior of prostate cancer and to bring therapies that can benefit specific subsets of patients with prostate cancer to the clinic.

A genitourinary (jeh-nih-toh-YOOR-ih-nayr-ee) oncologist is a cancer doctor with special training in the genitourinary (GU) system. This includes bladder, kidney, penis, prostate, and testicular cancers.
