Antioxidants for Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Events

A study involving 8,000 women compared the effects of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), vitamin E, and beta carotene on cardiovascular disease. The study showed no differences in overall cardiovascular morbidity and mortality with use of these antioxidants. However, women who took Vitamin E and Vitamin C together experienced fewer strokes.
