Thoracic Anesthesia Fellow/Instructor Attending Physician

This is an exciting one-year fellowship in thoracic anesthesia for trainees to gain expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients undergoing complex thoracic surgery (2500 total cases, 1500 major). The fellow may administer anesthesia under direct supervision of an attending physician or in a supervisory role of CA-3 house staff with an overseeing attending. The fellow spends time on the Pain Service gaining experience in placement of thoracic epidurals and patient care. Elective time in pulmonary medicine is suggested so that the fellow may have a better understanding of bronchoscopy and pulmonary function lab methods, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy. Elective time is also offered outside of Memorial Sloan Kettering for those interested in learning lung transplant anesthesia or intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.
