Surgical Outcomes Research Fellow

The Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer is looking for a highly motivated, academically oriented surgical resident – from PGY2 to PGY5 level at an ACGME accredited surgical residency program – interested in surgical outcomes research. The ideal applicant should have a strong clinical interest in surgical oncology, quality and outcomes research.

The successful candidate is expected to complete multiple clinical projects during his/her two year surgical outcomes fellowship. This encompasses protocol design, IRB submission, research team coordination, data collection, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing. Formal statistics training will be included. It is highly encouraged that projects be submitted to and presented at national and international meetings and successfully published in journals with high impact factors. Active collaboration with the surgical oncology clinical fellows on research projects and with the department of surgery quality manager is strongly encouraged.

The Department of Surgery at MSKCC is one of the highest volume cancer surgery centers in the country, providing large amounts of data for a variety of multidisciplinary clinical projects. The research environment at MSKCC is exceptionally fertile and particularly suited for multi-disciplinary outcomes and translational research. This proximity of several world-class institutes, investigators, leaders in the study of cancer, fosters an environment of intense innovation and discovery by facilitating collaborations among investigators with diverse expertise in cancer research.
