Our current and former patients from the Class of 2013 celebrate their high school graduation at our Pediatric Convocation.

Each year, many of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s former and current pediatric patients graduate from high school or earn their GED. Beginning in 2007, Memorial Sloan Kettering has celebrated this milestone at our annual Pediatric Convocation celebration.

Convocation validates everything we do as healthcare providers,” says pediatric oncologist Paul Meyers. “We work to restore young people to health, and we get to see that success. This event gives patients a chance to celebrate their victories and accomplishments with others who know what they went through.”

Pediatric Convocation includes a formal ceremony, followed by a luncheon for graduates and their families. This time of celebration is also an opportunity to reunite with old friends from the pediatrics staff.

“As cancer patients and survivors, we’ve learned lessons that no one can teach us in school…We’ve learned to smile endlessly, love unconditionally, and appreciate all the small things life has to offer,” says Annie, 2010 graduate.
