Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has announced that Kreg Koford has been named MSK’s Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Sustaining Care Services. Mr. Koford assumes his new role at MSK on July 9, 2018.

With his significant experience in strategic sourcing, category management, asset management, supplier collaboration, and supply chain operations, Mr. Koford will help MSK to further enhance effectiveness and efficiencies across a wide array of activities and initiatives. He brings to this role a bold vision and a commitment to uncovering and developing new opportunities in existing relationships and structures in order to truly transform how MSK buys, distributes, and uses resources.

“We’re very happy to welcome Kreg to MSK,” said Ned Groves, Executive Vice President and Hospital Administrator at MSK. “He is a recognized leader in his field who has helped to advance an entirely new approach to supply chain and sustaining care services management, incorporating customer service and standardization of best practices in innovative, productive ways. We know that MSK will benefit greatly from Kreg’s strategic thinking, creative ideas, and focus on continuous improvement.”

As part of his role, Mr. Koford will assume additional responsibilities in 2019, including for the Food and Nutrition Services Department, which provides critical services to sustain patients and staff. Previously, Mr. Koford has led strategic initiatives to standardize support services across organizational departments, including the development of progressive industry practices, such as category captainship (food and nutrition), a universal scrubs program (linen), pharmaceutical and recycled waste standards (environmental services), and comprehensive internal and external customer engagement strategies across multiple support service organizations.

“It is truly an honor to join the distinguished MSK team,” said Mr. Koford. “The MSK legacy of excellence in all aspects of care, research, education, and treatment combined with a strong mission and vision was the driving force of my decision to join this organization. I look forward to working with all the team members as we continue to lead in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of cancer.”

Mr. Koford was responsible for managing more than $2.2 billion of nonlabor spending at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, where he served as Assistant Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Solutions. In that role, he led the Intermountain supply chain organization to the number-one spot on the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 ranking in both 2016 and 2017. He also managed Intermountain’s key customer and supplier relationships, with a focus on identifying new sources of value that went beyond traditional price decreases and margin-shifting activities.

Mr. Koford joined Intermountain in 2003 as a project manager implementing clinical information systems. He quickly took on greater responsibility in his subsequent roles as Strategic Sourcing Manager, Senior Manager of Supply Chain Solutions, and then Director, Supply Chain Solutions.

Before that, he worked in the high-tech sector, providing consultation, implementation, and account management to key customers.

A native of Los Angeles, Mr. Koford earned his bachelor’s degree and his master’s in business administration from Brigham Young University. Most recently, Mr. Koford received certifications from Intermountain Healthcare’s Advanced Leadership Program and Michigan State University’s Executive Program, in addition to becoming a Certified Professional in Supply Management. He previously earned certifications from the Association for Health Care Resource and Materials Management’s Supply Chain Leadership Institute and IPS Project Management Advanced Training.
