Lawrence T. Dauer

I am the Radiation Safety Manager and Chair of the Emergency Management Committee in the Departments of Medical Physics and Radiology.

My research focuses on improving radiation protection practices and communication avenues to reduce the risk of exposure to ionizing radiation and to expand our clinical programs.

I am a diplomate of the American Board of Health Physics with certification in comprehensive health physics and hold a New York state license in medical physics. I have been Chair of the Radiation Safety Committee of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, President and Executive Council Member of the Medical Physics section of the Health Physics Society, President of the Greater New York Chapter of the Health Physics Society, and a board member of the Radiological and Medical Physics Society of New York.

I have also served on scientific committees of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements. In 2005, I received the Elda E. Anderson Award from the Health Physics Society. I am currently a member of the International Commission on Radiological Protection’s Committee 3 on Radiation Protection in Medicine, the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, the Joint Safety Committee of the Society for Interventional Radiology, and the American College of Radiology.
