Zaher Shabani is a Manager and Head of the Product Development Unit in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Office of Technology Development.
Previously, he served as a Senior Scientist and Manager of Operations at Merck & Co. and Schering-Plough Corp. From 2004-2019, he held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in areas such as discovery, preclinical and late-stage development of small-molecules, commercial manufacturing of viral vaccines, and global regulatory affairs.
Zaher received an MA degree in Biotechnology from Columbia University in 2009. As a graduate student, he conducted research in the area of expression, extraction, and purification of recombinant fluorescent proteins and plasmid DNAs. His thesis at Columbia was on the “Rapid Purification of Recombinant Plasmid DNA from Escherichia coli via Aqueous Three-Phase Partitioning.”
Zaher received a BS in Biochemistry from Rutgers University. He is currently pursuing an MBA in Health Care Management at Johns Hopkins University.
