A chargemaster is a list of prices for any service or product a hospital offers that could be billed to an insurance carrier, a patient, or another facility. Each hospital has its own chargemaster and is required by law to make this information public online. The charges are the same for every patient.
This document does not reflect what patients actually pay or should expect to pay for their care. Because of insurance, financial assistance, and other factors, amounts listed in the chargemaster are typically higher than patients would be required to pay.
Memorial Sloan Kettering is dedicated to making our care accessible. We can often work with patients who have financial worries to help with the cost of care. If you have questions about insurance coverage or paying for care, visit our Help With Your Financial Questions page. You can also ask for a charge estimate, which will give you an idea of what you will have to pay for your care at MSK.
