The laboratory of Dr. Karlo Perica is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual with a background in immunology, cell therapy, gene editing, and/or synthetic biology. The laboratory focuses on developing new Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell and other cell therapies for cancer. We seek to make cell therapy more accessible and more effective by developing “off-the-shelf” approaches using allogeneic cell therapies and in vivo editing.
Projects include:
• Developing allogeneic cells that resist immune rejection
• Gene editing of CAR T cells to enhance potency and function
• Understanding why CAR T cells are more effective for some patients, using both preclinical models and patient samples
• In vivo editing of T cells for solid tumors
The ideal candidate would have:
• A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in immunology, cell therapy, gene engineering, or a related field.
• Collaborative skills and the ability to work in a team
• Willingness to work with animal models
• Ability to perform self-directed and guided research
