Luis joined the MSK family over 17 years ago and has more than 20 years of biomedical research experience. Starting in the lab of Dr. Richard Kolesnick as a Lab Manager, Luis then transferred to the position of Research Fund Manager at MSK’s Research Technology Management Office where he learned about Sponsored Projects and Federal Grants. Luis was then recruited into Dr. Mark Ptashne’s Lab within the Molecular Biology Department, and took on the role of managing Dr. Ptashne’s awarded applications (pre/post). During his tenure in the Ptahsne Lab, Luis completed a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from CUNY Hunter College (in 2010) summa cum laude, and started working towards a MBA degree. Luis’ current role as Departmental Fund Manager for the MSK-Cornell Center for Translation of Cancer Nanomedicine is a culmination of his scientific and financial experiences at MSK.
