Thesis title: “Nuclear positioning of genomic segments containing pluripotency genes in murine embryonic fibroblasts, embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells”
My research interests focus on understanding cell lineage development in mammals using the early mouse embryo as a model. My work focuses on how pluripotent epiblast and the primitive endoderm cell lineages arise from a common precursor population, the inner cell mass (ICM) of the blastocyst stage embryo.
To elucidate mechanisms underlying ICM cell fate choice I am combining contemporary mouse genetics and embryology with live imaging approaches. In particular, I am analyzing various mutant strains that lack factors hypothesized to be involved in ICM cell fate decisions.
