Graduates of veterinary medical schools accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a strong interest in laboratory animal medicine are encouraged to apply. Individuals with postgraduate clinical experience will be given preference. Graduates of foreign veterinary colleges will be considered if they hold an Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduate certificate or provide evidence that they are qualified to practice veterinary medicine in some state, province, territory, or possession of the United States, Canada, or other country.

Online applications can be initiated beginning on October 14, 2016 and must be complete no later than November 6, 2016 11:59 pm EST. The deadline for applications to laboratory animal medicine training programs participating in the VIRMP is November 6, 2016. As the November 6, 2016 deadline is distinct from the deadline used by other residency specialties participating in the VIRMP, you should contact your references and registrar to ensure they submit their letters of support and your transcripts ahead of the November 6, 2016 deadline. It is essential you select the Tri-Institutional Training Program as a program to which you would like to apply. Your program rankings must be completed by January 20, 2017 at 9:00 pm EST.
