Admission Requirements & Process


Graduates of veterinary medical schools accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a strong interest in laboratory animal medicine are encouraged to apply. Individuals with postgraduate clinical experience will be given preference. Graduates of foreign veterinary colleges will be considered if they hold an Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduate certificate or provide evidence that they are qualified to practice veterinary medicine in some state, province, territory, or possession of the United States, Canada, or other country.

Applicants should complete an online application and submit all required materials through the VIRMP at  Online applications can be initiated beginning on October 15, 2013 and must be complete no later than November 3, 2013.  As the November 3, 2013 deadline is distinct from the deadline used by other residency specialties participating in the VIRMP, you should contact your references and registrar to ensure they submit their letters of support and your transcripts ahead of the November 3, 2013 deadline.  It is essential you select the Tri-Institutional Training Program as a program to which you would like to apply.  Your program rankings must be completed by January 11, 2014 at 11:59 EST.  Additional details can be found online at and here.
