Animal Use & Care Information

Animal use at SKI is overseen by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.

Scientists at the Sloan Kettering Institute have access to a variety of state-of-the-art core facilities that provide services and technology to support research. The cores provide the highest quality of scientific technology in rapid turn-around time, while operating in a cost-effective manner. Each of the cores is staffed by research experts in the technologies offered. Education and training is provided in select cores.

32 Core Facilities found

Microchemistry & Proteomics

The Microchemistry & Proteomics Core provides access to state-of-the-art, mass spectrometry based protein analysis technology. Core services include experimental design consultation, gel band protein ID, post translational modification analysis, SILAC, data analysis, and peptide synthesis.

Molecular Microbiology

The Molecular Microbiology Facility (MMF) is part of the Center for Microbes, Inflammation, and Cancer. The laboratory works with investigators to use next generation sequencing platforms to analyze the microbial composition of experimental samples obtained from mice or clinical samples obtained from patients.

Media Preparation

The Media Preparation Core prepares high-quality, chemically-defined tissue culture and bacteriological media necessary for ongoing cell growth research at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Radiochemistry & Molecular Imaging Probes

The Radiochemistry & Molecular Imaging Probes Core provides researchers with radionuclides and helps incorporate them into radiolabeled pharmaceuticals and radiolabeled antibodies for both basic research investigations and patient formulations.

Center of Comparative Medicine & Pathology

The Center of Comparative Medicine and Pathology is an academically oriented, interdisciplinary center that supports the development, characterization, care, and use of animal models at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Molecular Cytology

The Molecular Cytology Core helps researchers identify and master technologies for detecting and analyzing molecules in their natural environment -- for example, in cells, tissues, organs, embryos, and tumors.

Genetically Modified Animal (GMA) Phenotyping

The Tri-Institutional Genetically Modified Animal Phenotyping Service provides an extensive baseline phenotypic profile of genetically modified animals.

Research Pharmacy

The Research Pharmacy develops, procures, and validates the preparation and packaging of investigational drugs for clinical use.

Molecular Cytogenetics

The Molecular Cytogenetics Core supports the cytogenetic analysis of cells from human and research animal sources using a wide range of chromosome analysis techniques.

Organic Synthesis

The Organic Synthesis Core designs and executes efficient, economical chemical syntheses of entities that are not readily available to Memorial Sloan Kettering researchers.
