Story Starter: Emotional Support for Cancer Patients and Their Families

Anxiety and depression are common in cancer patients during and after treatment. In addition, family members may experience a range of painful emotions as they face cancer together. Memorial Sloan Kettering offers a variety of counseling and support services to help patients and their caregivers manage the complicated emotional toll a cancer diagnosis can take.

William Breitbart, MD, Chief of the Psychiatry Service, is available to discuss various ways both patients and caregivers can cope with stress.
