Tuesday, March 11, 2014

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) — the world’s leading oncology organization, with nearly 35,000 professionals — released today the first-ever comprehensive assessment of challenges facing the U.S. cancer care system. The State of Cancer Care in America: 2014 examines the growing demand for cancer care services and includes recommendations to improve access to high-quality care.

Chief of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Breast Cancer Medicine Service and ASCO President Clifford Hudis says, “As oncologists, our fundamental responsibility is to ensure that all patients with cancer — no matter who they are or where they live — receive the best possible care.” Dr. Hudis is available to discuss the report’s findings and recommendations for the future.
