New Medical Approaches to Treating Advanced Melanoma

Medical oncologist Jedd Wolchok of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center describes new medical approaches to treating advanced melanoma and preventing its recurrence. One approach, called immunologic therapy, uses drugs and vaccines that stimulate the immune system to attack melanoma cells that remain after surgery. Researchers are also developing new therapies directed at genetic mutations that cause melanoma.
