Improvements in cancer detection and treatment mean that more people are surviving cancer than ever before, says Mary McCabe, Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Survivorship Initiative. There is an increasing focus on research and patient care to help patients to manage the long-term side effects of chemotherapy and other treatments, to deal with anxiety about life beyond cancer, and to make healthier lifestyle choices.
