Get to Know Me

I’m a board-certified medical oncologist and researcher at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

I’m an expert in caring for people with liver cancergallbladder cancer, and bile duct cancer, and other cancers of the digestive system. I see patients at Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion and at MSK Westchester.

I chose to become a doctor because of my own experience with illness. I know that a cancer diagnosis can feel scary and overwhelming for people. I use my years of training and the latest medical data to give every patient the best possible results.

I adopt a personal approach to patient care. I also work closely with other experts involved in your care to make sure you get the most complete care possible.

Besides seeing patients, I focus on finding new ways to fight cancers that are difficult to treat. I have helped lead the development of many new drugs that are now approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat liver and bile duct cancers.

I have published more than 300 articles in top medical journals to share what I’ve learned with other doctors around the world. These include the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, JAMA Oncology, Nature, Cell, and Cancer Discovery.

I serve on national and international committees that help decide the best ways to treat cancer. My research and training have been supported by grants from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the American Association for Cancer Research, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the National Institutes of Health.

I am also passionate about making it easier for patients to join clinical trials, which are studies that test new treatments. At MSK, I lead a committee that makes sure all medical research is done safely and fairly for our patients. I am also part of other executive committees that work to improve how clinical trials are conducted.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a gastrointestinal (GAS-troh-in-TES-tih-nul) medical oncologist, which is a cancer doctor who specializes in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. This includes anal, colorectal, esophageal, gastric (stomach), liver, and pancreatic cancers. We also treat GI stromal tumors and neuroendocrine tumors.

I'm an early drug development specialist, which is a scientist who tests new drugs to treat cancer. I have special training in research studies, also known as clinical trials.
