A variety of factors can negatively impact male fertility, according to Dr. John Mulhall, director of the Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Preexisting health conditions such as an undescended testicle, a hernia, prior pelvic surgery, chronic illnesses — including cancer — and certain medications can interfere with the quality, concentration, or delivery of sperm.
