A variety of factors can negatively impact male fertility, according to Dr. John Mulhall, director of the Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Preexisting health conditions such as an undescended testicle, a hernia, prior pelvic surgery, chronic illnesses — including cancer — and certain medications can interfere with the quality, concentration, or delivery of sperm.
