Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is an academic medical center dedicated to cancer research, patient care, and education. The clinical arm of Memorial Sloan-Kettering is Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases, one of the teaching hospitals of Weill Cornell Medical College.
In support of our educational mission, Memorial Hospital faculty offer clinical electives to students who will be in their final 12 months of medical school at the start of their Memorial Hospital electives.
Applications for the 2013-2014 academic year are now being accepted. Application procedures for medical students attending US and Canadian schools are different from those for students at international schools, regardless of citizenship. Applicants are expected to comply with all requirements that apply to their school category. Please do not submit applications more than six months in advance of the requested elective date. Applications submitted more than six months in advance will be returned.
Our medical elective program is highly competitive. Applicants must demonstrate superior academic and supporting credentials. All applications are fully reviewed with regard to the student's academic credentials, clinical preparation, and expressed interest in oncology.
Students are asked not to contact elective sponsors regarding elective placement. All inquiries should be directed to the Medical Student Coordinator at medstudent@mskcc.org.
Upon completion of your elective, Memorial Hospital will provide your home institution with an evaluation form completed by a Memorial Hospital faculty or graduate staff member. Memorial Hospital faculty and staff will not complete evaluation forms provided by students from their home institutions under any circumstances.
