Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) today announced the following awards and appointments:

Yael David Awarded 2024 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship

Yael David
Yael David, PhDchemical biologist leading The Yael David Lab and Associate Member of the Chemical Biology Program, was selected as a 2024 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow in Chemistry. Dr. David is one of only 126 young scientists across the United States and Canada to be awarded this annual fellowship, one of the most competitive and esteemed awards available to early-career scholars. As part of the prestigious honor, Dr. David will receive two-year, $75,000 fellowship to support her research. Awarded annually since 1955, the Sloan Research Fellowships honor exceptional U.S. and Canadian researchers whose creativity, leadership, innovation and research accomplishments make them stand out as the next generation of leaders.

Sascha Haubner Received American Society of Hematology 2024 Scholar Award

Sascha Haubner
Sascha Haubner, MD, senior research scientist, received the American Society of Hematology (ASH) 2024 Scholar Award. One of ASH’s most prestigious research award programs, the ASH Scholar Awards support early career investigators dedicated to careers in hematology research as they transition from training programs to careers as independent investigators. The program funds hematologists in the United States and Canada who conduct basic, translational, and clinical research that furthers the understanding and treatment of blood disorders.

MaryAnn Connor, MSN, RN, NI-BC, CPHIMS, FAMIA, FHIMSS, senior director of Nursing Informatics, was honored with the Health Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) Most Influential Women in Health IT Award. As part of the HIMSS Changemaker in Health Awards, the Most Influential Women in Health IT Award celebrates inspirational and innovative healthcare leaders who improve patient care by harnessing the power of information and technology.

Craig Thompson and Ross Levine Received 2023 National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigations Awards

Craig Thompson, MD, member of the Cancer Biology and Genetics Program and the Department of Medicine and leader of The Craig Thompson Lab and Ross Levine, MD, Leukemia Specialist and physician- scientist, Laurence Joseph Chair in Leukemia Research, and Deputy Physician-In-Chief of  Translational Research, both received 2023 National Cancer Institute (NCI) Outstanding Investigations Awards. The Outstanding Investigator Award is designed to support accomplished leaders in cancer research who are providing significant contributions toward understanding cancer and developing applications that may lead to a breakthrough in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical cancer research.

Craig Thompson Named the 2024 Watanabe Prize in Translational Research by Indiana University School of Medicine

Craig Thompson, MD, member of the Cancer Biology and Genetics Program and the Department of Medicine, was named the 2024 Watanabe Prize in Translational Research by Indiana University School of Medicine. The prize is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious awards, recognizing individuals focused on shepherding scientific discoveries into new patients. It is awarded to a senior investigator who has made a significant contribution to the field of translational science.

Rosa Nouvini Awarded the 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award by United Hospital Fund

Rosa Nouvini, MD, hematologist-oncologist, received the 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award by United Hospital Fund (UHF). UHF’s Excellence in Health Care Award honors extraordinary personal leadership to improve quality of care, patient safety, and patient experience. Honorees are selected for their vision and accomplishments by participating hospital systems, long-term care facilities, home care organizations, independent practice associations, and federally qualified health centers from across the greater New York metropolitan region.

MSK Named One of America’s Best Large Employers of 2024 by Forbes

MSK was recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Large Employers of 2024. MSK placed #38 out of 600 employers with more than 5,000 employees. Forbes created the lists in partnership with world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista, which conducted an independent survey of approximately 170,000 Americans working for companies with more than 1,000 workers in the United States. Employers were ranked based on direct recommendations from respondents who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employer to friends and family, as well as by indirect recommendations from friends and family of employees or members of the public who work in the same industry.
