Scott Lowe is Director of the Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center. He studies cell aging and cell death to understand the genes that control those processes.
The Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center was established with a gift from the Estate of Geoffrey Beene. Mr. Beene, the founder of Geoffrey Beene, Inc, died in 2004 of complications from cancer. He achieved international distinction as one of the top fashion designers of the past 50 years. It was Mr. Beene's wish that his estate should provide support for cancer research, and the Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center offers the means to realize that vision.

- Gerstner Sloan-Kettering Graduate Student Fellows Robert Bowman, Jenny Karo, and George Mazo were named the 2011 Geoffrey Beene Graduate Student Fellows.
- The fifth annual Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Retreat will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, 2012, in Skytop, PA.
