Immigrant Health & Cancer Disparities Service: Promoting Immigrant Minority Equity in Cancer Research

Increasing immigrant and minority participation in clinical trials will allow researchers to evaluate the effectiveness of new cancer treatments and diagnostic methods in a more diverse patient population.

Our Services

The Promoting Immigrant Minority Equity (PRIME) program uses a variety of tools and approaches to increase enrollment of minorities in cancer observational studies and clinical research, including:

  • Community and patient workshops and targeted online materials
  • Patient-centered support through multilingual access facilitators, modeled on the Integrated Cancer Care Action Network program, to facilitate recruitment and retention in breast cancer studies
  • Provider outreach, education, and support
  • Institutional Review Board education to identify and remove barriers to enrollment
