The SKI Stem Cell Research Facility expands, characterizes and distributes non-NIH approved human embryonic stem (hES) cells isolated at the Weill-Cornell and Rockefeller University derivation core facilities. We are a part of the Starr Foundation-funded Tri-Institutional Stem Cell Initiative that is developing shared stem cell expertise and resources between Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Weill-Cornell, and Rockefeller University. In addition to characterizing new Tri- Institutional hES lines, we will provide :
Additionally, we are refining new technologies in hES culture. Homologous recombination and BAC transgenesis are currently being developed, and we hope to offer these techniques as services in the future. We are also investigating new culture conditions that might enhance the long-term maintainance of human ES cells in culture.
