Benefits include same-day anesthesia evaluation and high-definition imaging such as narrow band imaging, which enhances the detection of dysplasia and polyps that can be removed immediately. An attending gastroenterologist performs each colonoscopy, and tissue that is removed is sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s expert gastrointestinal pathologists for examination.
