I always want to have room in my heart for innocence. It is a way to relate to flowers in the spring and new water trickling down the mountain. It is the beginning of courage.

Nick Hollibaugh
American, b. 1976

Sorbet Skyline 2016
Acrylic on ash wood 28 x 34 x 4 inches

I am most inspired by the common objects around me. A roofline, a water tower, or an old door are things that come to mind. These objects give me a subject to explore. I then go to work deconstructing in the hope of creating sculpture that honors these ideas.

Pigmented resin on panel, Horizon Study 4 18 inches in diameter, Light Year 35 inches diameter, Horizon Study 5 18 inches in diameter

I work with resin, paint, and heat. Resin lends itself to the buildup of layers, capturing traces of time, passage, and movement. My Horizon paintings are nature-based abstractions, influenced by the notions and aesthetics of 19th-century sublime landscapes and the coastal horizon.
