Dr. Ostrovnaya is interested in statistical methods in cancer genomics and proteomics. One of her recent projects involves developing methodology for distinguishing second primary tumors from metastases using point mutations or copy number alteration profiles. Other interests include developing new methods for indentifying copy number variations and multiple testing in genomics. Dr. Ostrovnaya is a biostatistician for POETIC clinical trials (Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutic Consortium) and for the bladder cancer group in the Department of Medicine. She also collaborates with the high throughput screening laboratory to identify small molecules or genes that may lead to novel anticancer drugs. Finally, she is working with Dr. Paul Tempst on a study of the reproducibility of serum proteomic data.
