I am an internist who specializes in treating pain and other symptoms related to cancer. I also oversee Memorial Sloan Kettering's Palliative Care Unit. Patients with symptoms that compromise their quality of life or who are in need of acute pain management are admitted to the PCU. After diagnosing the causes of patients' pain, I direct their treatment, which can include pain medications, radiation therapy, invasive interventions, and psychosocial support. I focus on pain symptom management and palliative care issues both while patients are receiving treatment in the hospital and after they are discharged home.

En la Unidad de Cuidados Paliativos ingresan pacientes con síntomas que comprometen su calidad de vida o aquellos que necesitan controlar el dolor agudo. Luego de diagnosticar cuál es la causa del dolor del paciente, dirijo el tratamiento que puede incluir analgésicos, radioterapia, intervenciones invasivas, y apoyo psicosocial. Me concentro en manejar el síntoma del dolor y en los problemas que requieren cuidados paliativos mientras los pacientes reciben tratamiento en el hospital o cuando se les da el alta.

I am a radiation oncologist who has special training in using the latest radiation therapy techniques to treat breast cancer and head and neck cancer. These techniques include image-guided radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiotherapy.
